Never Surrender Your Cake: Celebrate Successes Big And Small

Success is earned, and by golly, celebration is warranted. Regardless if celebrating a big or small success, take a moment to throw yourself a party. Celebrations are special moments and should be swirling with excitement and bravos whether publicly or privately. Never surrender your cake.

Reward Yourself

Cake is a gold standard of celebratory rewards, but depending on the success, you might select a different way to treat yourself. Passed a major test that required endless nights of studying over a desk? Book a massage! Found a new way to optimize your week so you regain some free time? Schedule a date with friends to cheers over a meal or drink. Reached a new wellness goal? Buy that new outfit to showcase your efforts. Permit yourself to splurge and do something nice or out of the norm to mark the occasion.

One Size Does Not Fit All

While larger achievements may seem to require a larger bash, this is not steadfast. For those who prefer a more intimate celebration, you do you! If you’re happiest in the limelight, roll out the red carpet for your success. Keep in mind how you arrived to your success. If there are people who were integral to your process, consider involving them in the celebration in some format.

Celebration Guilt

Often with a busy schedule or a desire to keep chugging along, celebrations may be sidelined for usual daily demands. It may also feel improper to celebrate as others are struggling. Maybe you ought a new house, but your friend had to move home. Or you got a job promotion but are supporting someone through a layoff. One should not cancel out the other. Here’s why: both can exist. It’s as simple as that. You can still highlight successes while being mindful of other circumstances.

Also by practicing the act of celebrating things that have gone well, we can better recall things that have gone well. When you finally nail that complicated recipe without overcooking the entrée, celebrate! After you make that silly trick basketball shot that defies the laws of physics, do the dance! Even during a season of setbacks, there are moments worth celebrating. Making of habit of finding those moments helps tremendously with outlook and mindset.

Successes are often shaped by many factors. You got there either way and that’s reason enough to mark the occasion to your liking. Congrats to you. Enjoy the moment you made happen!
