Forgiveness Is A Gift You Give To Yourself
02/20/2022The quote “Holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die” is attributed to Buddha. The first time I was introduced to this quote while discussing grudges, it made me pause and reflect: THAT IS SO TRUE.
If you’ve ever been driving home and cut off in traffic, you know it’s easy to let the aggravation stay with you as you enter your home. But the driver is gone and unaffected by your emotions. Holding on to anger is not useful. Letting go of anger and practicing forgiveness is a gift you give to yourself. It facilitates a return to calmness and contentment. Living without the influence of anger allows us to be present and make decisions with better considerations.
