Life Coaching to Help with: Accountability

Most people abandon their New Year’s resolutions before the end of January, but accountability can be the antidote to calling it quits prematurely. Accountability tactics commonly use a buddy system. A life coach can be just that. Life coaching is tailored to work toward improving or addressing whatever is important to you!

Let’s take the example of a resolution—New Year’s or otherwise—and that the goal is something you’re truly keen to do. The goal could be as simple as calling friends and family more often. Working together we can figure out what the obstacles are (not enough time, family/friend drama, lost touch) and what are some possible remedies.

Finding a unique solution to your situation, without bias from someone in your life, is an ideal setting. You are able to speak freely (i.e. “I don’t feel connected to my sibling recently”). You don’t receive biased feedback (i.e. a friend taking your side and saying it’s the sibling’s fault, not yours) or judgement (it’s likely been said before). Because of this, you are able to make better and faster progress. Additionally, you will have follow-up discussions at the next session (i.e. did you make any progress re calling your sibling). Collectively, this is how life coaching helps with accountability to ensure steps are taken to reach your objective as well as to strategize change(s) should obstacles arise.

If you’ve ditched a goal but are interested in giving it “the old college try”, book a coaching session to help you achieve with an added layer of accountability.
